A Masterclass in Storytelling and Intrigue with Acclaimed Author Nikesh Shukla | Guardian Master Classes

The old saying goes that everyone has a book in them – and that may be true, but what’s also true is this: writing can be difficult, requires resilience and perseverance, and, truth be told, not many people complete the challenges to successfully finish their first draft. Rather than getting stuck, discover how to build your story effectively by learning how to combine the three essential elements: character, narrative and plot.

Building on his upcoming creative writing guide, Your story mattersand in a friendly and informal virtual setting, author, screenwriter and writing mentor Nikesh Shukla will help you shape your story in a way that will hone your skills, build your confidence, and ensure it’s worth telling.

Learn how to make your plot, character, and story speak to each other in a structured way and how to make sure your characters lead your reader through the plot and don’t let the plot dictate what happens to them. Above all, discover how to boost your confidence and strengthen your resilience to accompany you in a writing process that, far from being a chore, can be stimulating.
